Girl Up, a campaign founded under the United Nations Foundation, is dedicated to advocating for and supporting equal opportunities for underprivileged adolescent girls in developing countries around the world.
Girl Up is a nonprofit organization at NYIT whose goal is to work alongside the United Nations to fundraise, advocate, and unite girls to change the world. Girl Up’s mission is to reach out to girls living in places where it is challenging to be a girl, and speak up on their behalf to help them thrive. This organization is led by a community of passionate advocates raising awareness and funds. At NYIT, Girl Up stands as a platform for women to amplify their voices within the college campus, community, and around the world. Through this organization, members will be educated about different issues of injustice and oppression, and trained to become a leader as an activist to push for equality and justice. Girl Up creates girl leaders that introduce policy change at both local and national levels, and raises millions of dollars to support United Nations programs. This organization plans events throughout the semester and contacts different organizations, as well as promotes ideas for future collaborations between chapters. Girl Up inspires and encourages a generation of girls to be the force for gender equality and social change.
